Better than alternatives

Compared to the alternatives, sheet lead has a number of very positive functional qualities, for example its ease of use in different shapes and its specific gravity (11.3), as a result of which it remains in its place under all weather conditions. The good recyclability means that there is almost a closed cycle: virtually nothing is lost. This is obviously one of the important factors that contributes to the better environmental performance of sheet lead compared to alternative materials that are used as waterproof products in the building sector, as shown in a LCA (Life Cycle Analysis) study by TNO (Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research).
