Sheet Lead
Compared to the alternatives, sheet lead has a number of very positive functional qualities, for example is it waterproof; UV sustainable; durable; heavy but flexible; and because it is fully recyclable sheet lead it has a better environmental performance compared to alternative materials that are used as waterproof products, as shown in a LCA (Life Cycle Analysis) study by TNO (Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research).
Refined and shaped
After a quality inspection first, the old lead is melted in order to separate the lead from the substances that are useless to us so that it can meet the EN12588 standard. The residual substances that are useless for us are sold to specialised companies which refine them further and convert them into commercial metals such as copper, zinc, tin, lead, antimony and iron.
We refine real lead: the impurities are removed and copper is added to give lead the qualities. The refined lead is cast in blocks, which are processed into rolls according to a maximum width of 240 cm.
Perfect recycling
No matter into what product sheet lead is processed; it will always remain a perfect recyclable material. So the same material that is used to prevent leakage in your home may have been used hundreds of years ago on a church or cathedral! Virtually nothing is lost.
